Our IN-PERSON Woodwork Incursions
For older 2/younger 3-years-olds
Woodwork PACKS also available for smaller budgets! CLICK HERE to learn more.
We use Premium Quality Timber (sustainably sourced untreated Pine) for all our wooden toy projects.
Duration: 45 MINUTES
Perfect for the attention span and fine-motor-skills of older 2/younger 3-year-old children.
25 children per group/incursion (30 max, conditions apply)
What to expect
Each incursion starts with a short SAFETY TALK. The children get to try on safety spectacles, which is more for effect than any danger involved (see also our FAQ’s).
Then the "serious" woodworking begins.
All children within one group work on the same project. This way each child can easily follow Jim's instructions. He explains and demonstrates each process clearly and facilitates the children where needed.
Jim asks leading questions throughout to help guide them through their own creative process.
Each child gets to make and take home her/his own proper wooden toy they made all by themselves.
But wait, there’s more!
This one frequently surprises teachers as they think, the incursion is finished.
But it’s not.
Each child then gets to be even more creative in their own individual UNSTRUCTURED way with our creative box of random wooden shapes, blocks and dowels.
This often leads to some very surprising results!

A long lasting experience
“The children were absolutely mesmerised by Jim's presentation. We made wooden toys and learned about woodwork tools and their uses. Jim's calm and engaging manner made even the most wiggly ones sit still. The session was very hands-on and the children were able to use real tools. The thing the children built could be taken home, which made the incursion a long lasting experience.

The children were enthralled & engaged
“The children were enthralled and engaged. Jim had a warm rapour with them and his presentation was spot on their level of understanding. The aids Jim brought, caught the children's interest and helped them to concentrate and attend throughout his presentation.”
— Ruth, 4 Year Old Teacher
ROSSWOOD PRESCHOOL, Dandenong North -
Freedom to let their imaginations run
“We absolutely LOVED the session run today! A great balance between making a set item and also the freedom to let their imaginations run when the children were able to create from additional resources available. The children are very proud of their creations. Well done on a great session. I have already started promoting your business through my networks.”
